Sh-boom enters "Walk of Fame"
Sh-boom is being honored as the first inductee into the Alumni Association's Walk of Fame at St. Louis Community College at Meramec.
The induction ceremony will take place on Friday, April 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the visitor's parking circle on the Meramec campus at 11333 Big Bend Boulevard in Kirkwood. The event will include college dignitaries and esteemed members of the music faculty, who are slated to be award presenters.
Following the ceremony, Sh-boom will perform at a sock hop in the school gym at 8:30 p.m. Tickets to the dance are just $8.00 in advance or $10.00 at the door. For more information, call (314)984-7551. Induction ceremonies are free.
Incidentally, 6 of the 8 band members attended classes at Meramec. It was there in 1981 that the name Sh-boom was adopted as the band performed at school and music department events. Other Meramec alumni include actor John Goodman and petcher T.J. Mathews.

Back in St. Louis, Vinnie Pietropaoli, former drummer with Tommy James and the Shondells, sat in with Sh-boom to play the 1968 hit, "Mony, Mony."
Over at the Kiel Center, Jack Buck, Charlie Spoonhour and a virtual who's who of St. Louis sports, looked on as Sh-boom sang the National Anthem for the SLU/Cincinnati game.
